Job Description Job Description[Research Scientist, Biologics Generation & Analytics] We areseeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Scientist to joinBiologics Generation & Analytics (BGA) group of Global Biologics.

The ideal candidate will possess strong background in proteinproduction and characterization using mammalian expressionplatforms and contribute to antigen and tool molecule production toadvance Takeda’s therapeutic discovery programs. A successfulcandidate will collaborate with matrixed project teams, internalprotein production and analytical experts and execute proteinproduction requirements. Effective communication skills and theability to work within cross-functional teams are essential.

Thesuccessful candidate will:

Design and engineer constructs forprotein expression, including reformatting antigens/antibodies andapplying advanced protein engineering solutions (innovativenon-antibody fusions and different modalities of therapeutics) toimprove expression performance. Perform protein expression usingmammalian expression system, including HEK293 and CHO cell lines atsmall- to large-scale. The scope of expression work includes theuse of high-throughput automation system, shake flasks, to WAVEbioreactor with perfusion setup. Support downstream process,including purification and analytical characterization to ensurehigh-sample quality that fits project needs. Evaluate and implementnew methods for transient and stable pools on protein expressionwhen appropriate. Maintain responsibility for routine laboratoryinstrumentation and supplies. Document experiments thoroughly usingLIMS systems and communicate results within the team andcross-functional groups.

Desired qualifications include:

PhD degreein a scientific discipline (or equivalent), or MS with 6 yearsrelevant experience, or BS with 8 years relevant experience. Strongpreference for protein production experience in an industrysetting. Track record of hands-on experience with high-qualityprotein production (construct design, expression, purification,optimization, characterization) of antigens, antibodies and/orother biologics therapeutics for drug discovery is required.

Experience in HEK- and CHO-based protein expression (transient andstable) at a variety of scales, including plate-based formats andfermenters or wave bioreactor, is required. Experience withantibody purification approaches (including common chromatography),with a track record of being able to adapt these protocols ordevelop new ones for challenging antibodies and antigens, is highlydesirable. Strategic experiment planning, data interpretation,summarization, and presentation with minimal supervision arerequired. Effective verbal and written communication as well asstrong interpersonal skills are required. Experience managingCo-ops, Research Associates and training fellow scientists is aplus. Experience protein production utilizing contract researchorganizations is a plus. Excellent trouble-shooting andorganizational skills and attention to details. Base Salary Range:

$111,800.00 – $175,670.00 The estimatedsalary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. Theactual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors,including the qualifications of the individual applicant for theposition, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills,level of education attained, certifications or other professionallicenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/orfrom which they will be performing the job.

The actual base salaryoffered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wagerequirements for the job location. U.S. based employees may beeligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives.
