Job Description The Biologics Discovery Sciences group atAbbVie is seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated scientist tojoin a dynamic team supporting Discovery Biotherapeutics. Thisposition will impact projects through engineering, production, andcharacterization of multispecific biopharmaceutical products. Theideal candidate should have extensive experience with biologics andmultispecifics production platforms, analytical characterization(e.g., SEC, MS), and a proven track record implementingmultispecific engineering and production strategies to advanceearly- and late-stage discovery programs. The ideal candidate willalso have people and project management experience. The applicantshould be an enthusiastic, creative scientist who will maketangible contributions to the continuous improvement and innovationwithin the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible fordesign, engineering and production of multispecific biologics tosupport all Abbvie therapeutic areas Evaluate and integratestate-of-the-art technology to improve therapeutic productionplatforms, and demonstrate creative out-of-the-box thinking tosolve difficult problems Supervise 1-2 scientists, evaluate teamperformance, and is accountable for the effective performance ofteam Serve as a Multispecifics Engineering representative forcross-functional teams, and contribute scientific insights intomultiple projects across various therapeutic areas; recognizedexpert in multispecifics design and production Serve as theBiologics lead on projects to coordinate activities and transitionsfrom hit generation through candidate nomination Identify and solvetechnical problems independently, conceive and implement innovativeprocess research ideas Ensure consistency and quality of technicalreports Provide project update, analysis and advice tocross-functional teams and senior management Present original workinternally across departments and at internal and externalscientific conferences; may author or co-author peer-reviewedscientific papers or patents
Qualifications Qualifications:
PhD,MS, or BS degree in Biochemistry, Biochemical engineering orrelated disciplines with typically 4 (PhD), 10 (BS) or 12 years ofexperience Extensive experience in multispecific biologicsengineering and knowledge of biologic pipeline progression fromexploratory through candidate nomination Extensive experience withprotein, biologics, fragments, and multi-specifics design,expression and purification Experience managing direct reports andproviding performance evaluations and development opportunitiesProgram management experience preferred Experience with CROcoordination Ability to explore and develop new approaches tofurther advance innovative purification and screening technologiesfor multispecifics Sound scientific understanding of current stateof protein expression/separation/analytical technologies Experiencewith in vitro analytical techniques for protein characterization(e.g.
SEC, MS, DSF
); experience with developability screening formultispecifics preferred Strong molecular biology skills (e.g.molecular cloning) Experience with sequence analysis tools (VectorNTI, Geneious, Genedata) Excellent organizational skills and theability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Team player withthe ability to operate in a fast-paced multi-disciplinaryenvironment Adapt to rapid changes in project priorities andtimelines Recognized in the scientific community through asustained record of peer-reviewed publications and patentspreferred Candidate must be a goal-oriented team player withexcellent verbal and written communication skills and strong can-doattitude

Individualcompensation paid within this range willdepend on many factors including geographic location, and we mayultimatelypay more or less than the posted range. This range may bemodified in the future.
Salary:
$106,500 – $202,500 We offer acomprehensive package of benefits including paid time off(vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/visioninsurance and401(k) to eligible employees. This job is eligible to participatein our short-term incentive programs. This job is eligible toparticipate in our long-term incentive programs.
