experience level: entry level job title: Marine Life Manager We are looking for an outgoing, upbeat, self starter who enjoys science, especially sea life – to help us with our marine scientific specimen supply business. Must be organized, self learning, and have abilities to communicate with science, research, aquarium, & educational accounts. This job is quite varied; lots of field work, working with area fishermen, harvesters, diggers, and divers to source individual species of interest. Filling orders, packing and shipping UPS boxes, fielding customer service calls/emails and maintaining sea life all part of the position. This is a fun marine biology experience every day, year round. You will get to wear many hats here and there is never a dull moment with all that is going on. Experience with foraging or in commercial fishing will be a plus. Knowledge of marine, freshwater, and terrestrial habitats is helpful. Some tasks can be physically challenging at times, but slow and steady will win the race every time. Much of the work revolves around low tide collecting, so the hours will be flexible and rotating. Experience working on the water with small boats, nets, etc. is helpful. Will train and license as necessary. Founded in 2002, Gulf of Maine, Inc. is a small expanding seaweed, shellfish, and scientific supply company based in Pembroke on Cobscook Bay in Eastern Maine.
