Job Description

Organization Overview RNA is the driving force of biological complexity,determining which genes any given cell expresses at specific times and under specific circumstances. Darnell developed high-throughput sequencing and crosslinking methods to investigate how RNA binding proteins (RBPs) modulate gene expression. He discovered neuron-specific RNA-binding proteins in the mammalian brain,and studies their link to intellectual function and human disease. Overview The Laboratory of Molecular Neuro-oncology focuses on characterizing the molecular mechanisms that underlie pain and inflammation in patients with arthritis. Current efforts are focused on understanding neuroimmune interactions in inflamed joints and how these may relate to patient experiences of pain and inflammation. The lab is very interdisciplinary and will involve interactions with a diverse team of investigators from around the USA, and UK. The Research Assistant will perform experiments on immune, stromal and neuronal cells.

Responsibilities Responsibilities include the following:

Collect, store, process and organize clinical blood and tissue samples Use basic molecular biology and biochemical techniques including PCR, RNAseq library preparation, flow cytometry and sorting, immunofluorescence. Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree is required. An educational emphasis in Life sciences, molecular biology or biochemistry is preferred. Basic knowledge of tissue culture and laboratory practice along with an ability to give full attention to experiments and keep accurate and accessible records is essential. Ability to work with mice including mouse dissection, microscopy, ELISA, and tissue culture. Use basic molecular biology and biochemical techniques including PCR, RNAseq library preparation, flow cytometry and sorting, immunofluorescence, and basic statistics. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Min USD $50,000.00/Yr.
