Hiring Department The Department of Molecular Microbiology andImmunology Job Description The Department of Molecular Microbiologyand Immunology at the University of Missouri School of Medicineseeks outstanding applicants for multiple full-timetenure-track/tenured positions at the Assistant or AssociateProfessor level. The department is seeking candidates that willenhance our scope of research in the areas of bacterialpathogenesis and metabolic regulation of inflammation, includingcrosstalk between the microbiome and the immune system. Thisposition will be expected to contribute to the training of graduatestudents in our Translational Biosciences PhD Program and toeducation of undergraduate and/or medical students and toparticipate in departmental and university service and committeeactivities. Collaborative opportunities abound at the University ofMissouri. We are one of only six public universities nationwidethat can claim schools or colleges of medicine, veterinarymedicine, agriculture, engineering, arts and science, law, andresearch reactor-all on the same campus. There is great potentialto collaborate with individuals across campus. The University ofMissouri boasts state-of-the-art research facilities includingnewly renovated space in the Medical Sciences Building, NextGenPrecision Health building, and the Bond Life Sciences Center.

Outstanding Core facilities for Flow Cytometry, Genomics,Metabolomics, Proteomics, Bioinformatics and Analytics, and Lightand Electron microscopy are in proximity to the School of Medicine.

MU is also home to the Laboratory for Infectious Disease Research,a Regional Biocontainment Lab with more than 10,000 square feet ofspace for studies of pathogens that require BSL-3 containment.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

PhD, MD or MD/PhD or equivalent degree in microbiology,immunology, or appropriate related discipline.

Candidates will beevaluated on:

A track record of research productivity andaccomplishments. Demonstrated potential to establish or maintain aninternationally-recognized, externally-funded researchprogram. Robust publications in peer-reviewed journals. A research focus on bacterial pathogenesis, host responses toinfection and/or metabolic regulation of inflammation and themicrobiome.
