A postdoctoral position focused on plant-microbiome interactions is available in the Malacrino Lab at Clemson University. The successful applicant will work as part of an interdisciplinary group and will focus on the bioinformatics analysis of existing meta-omics and pangenomics datasets. Responsibilities will primarily include conducting data analysis and leading the writing of manuscripts. Qualified candidates will have an educational background in bioinformatics, microbiome science, or related fields, and experience or interest in collaborating with researchers from diverse disciplines and academic backgrounds. The ideal candidate will have experience with amplicon sequencing, shotgun metagenomics/metatranscriptomics, and pangenomics datasets. Familiarity with R and Unix, and experience using Python is essential. The ability and desire to work both independently and collaboratively with other members of the lab is critical to the success of this position. This position will be a 12-months appointment with the possibility of renewal. About the

A Ph.D. in microbial ecology, bioinformatics, microbiome science, or a similar field, with a strong background in bioinformatics Experience analyzing large meta-omics and pangenomics datasets derived from field and/or laboratory samples Experience with high-performance computing, Linux command line, scripting languages (Perl, Python, R and/or Bash), and databases (e.g., SQL), various bioinformatic software, and statistical approaches to meta-omics data Demonstrated ability to work independently in a research setting, as well as collaboratively as a team member Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to lead the development of manuscripts for refereed journal publication are needed Application Instructions
