Chemical Purchasing Analyst Job Description The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the supply of raw materials, particularly active and inactive cosmetic ingredients. A strong background in chemical purchasing and financial analysis is essential to ensure cost-effective, timely, and quality-driven procurement aligned with production schedules and financial forecasts. Responsibilities Source and procure raw materials, chemicals, and ingredients used in the formulation of cosmetic and skincare products. Establish and maintain relationships with domestic and international chemical suppliers and distributors. Evaluate and negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and contracts to optimize purchasing strategies. Monitor commodity pricing trends and their financial impact on the business. Ensure supply continuity while optimizing inventory levels based on production forecasts. Collaborate with the finance and production departments to ensure accurate cost projections and budgeting. Maintain an organized database of vendor information, specifications, pricing, and purchase history. Assist in internal audits and regulatory compliance related to material sourcing (e.g., GMP, FDA). Analyze purchasing KPIs, price variances, and cost savings opportunities. Manage purchase orders, delivery confirmations, and receipts within ERP or MRP systems. Essential Skills Purchasing experience Financial analysis Procurement experience Negotiation and communication skills Accounting Finance Financial reporting Variance analysis Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Chemistry, Business, Finance, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, with a strong preference for chemical or cosmetic industry background . Solid understanding of chemical raw materials commonly used in cosmetics and skincare. Strong financial acumen; ability to assess and report on cost structures, trends, and purchase margins. Proficient in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., FishBowl, NetSuite, SAP). Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to raw material sourcing. Work Environment The role is based onsite at a manufacturing company in an office setting.
