Laboratory Technician:
Neville Chemical Company is a leading manufacturer of low molecular weight thermoplastic and liquid resins that serve a wide variety of applications in the Coatings, Adhesives, Ink and Rubber industries. Customer satisfaction, innovation, and extensive research have been Neville hallmarks for 100 years. Neville has a current opening for a Laboratory Technician in our Research & Development Division at our Neville Island, Pennsylvania facility.
- Perform physical testing of various materials including resins and raw materials to support a cross‑functional team driving new product development as well as supporting existing production efforts.
- Perform resin polymerization reactions as required involving new and existing products.
- Record and report observations, calculations and test results in a timely, complete and accurate manner along with keeping supervision advised on work status and any problems.
- Maintain, monitor and calibrate test equipment, instrumentation and supplies on a routine basis to ensure reliability and accuracy of results.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices and abide by all established procedures for chemical handling and waste removal.
- Assist and serve as the back‑up for others within the department as needed.
- Be flexible and able to change priorities on an as needed basis
- High school diploma or equivalent with high school chemistry required. College level Chemistry preferred.
- One to three years’ experience as a laboratory technician.
- Experience in the formulation and / or physical evaluation of coatings is a plus.
- Experience working within project teams on new product development is a plus.
- Experience and/or training in the shipping of chemicals is a plus
- Excellent communication skills – oral and written.
- Ability and willingness to learn new instrumentation and test methods.
- Strong math and problem solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organization skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment to achieve goals.
- Compliance with laboratory Health, Safety and Environmental rules and regulations.
- Familiar with MS Office programs – primarily: Word & Excel
