Bay Minette Lab Summary The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for routine QC laboratory analysis of raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, stability and process validation. The candidate must demonstrate competence in conducting most types of physical and chemical analyses (including complex analyses) using a wide variety of laboratory equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
1. Collect and measure samples (adhering to test methods) required to verify quality. 2. Support manufacturing in troubleshooting process problems that are chemistry related at our plant site. 3. Perform lab equipment and instruments maintenance, calibration, and documentation as needed. 4. Perform peer review of laboratory documentation and all lab data to ensure compliance with laboratory SOPs, test methods and industry regulations. 5. Assist in maintaining general organization, safety and cleanliness of lab environment. 6. Assist in training new employees/interns as needed. 7. Data entry and analysis. 8. Other duties may be assigned by Quality Manager or Director of Manufacturing. Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s Degree, or higher, in Chemistry or related engineering or science. 2 years or more work experience in chemical related job. Reasoning Ability Strong chemical knowledge Understanding of SDS’s Project management knowledge Superior organization skills Exemplary technical writing skills. Must be able to perform science-based math and use a calculator. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have critical thinking skills Must be able to work within teams. Computer Skills Competent with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel Familiar with the Microsoft 365 Suite and apps Competent with PDF software (Adobe, Nuance, or other program) Ability to perform internet searches Competent to work within LIMS system Experience with data analysis software (JMP, Minitab, etc.). Other Ability to work with different types of materials, using proper personal protective equipment (PPE), as defined by procedures and methods to ensure a safe work environment.
