Biochemistry is a critical component of the curriculum for students pursuing careers in health sciences, veterinary medicine, and graduate-level biomedical research, and is required by various departments including Biology and Animal Science. Essential Job Duties
Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in both undergraduate and graduate teaching.
The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will include teaching introductory chemistry, undergraduate organic chemistry, and biochemistry courses, as well as upper-level lecture and laboratory courses in organic and biochemical sciences.
The candidate is expected to establish a productive, independent research program in the area of biochemical or bioorganic chemistry.
This includes mentoring and supervising both undergraduate and graduate students.
The successful candidate should also demonstrate the ability to develop interdisciplinary research collaborations within the Department of Chemistry, across academic units and research centers at Tuskegee University, and with nearby federal laboratories.
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of a PhD in Organic Chemistry or Biochemistry or closely related discipline prior to starting this appointment is required;
Preferred Qualifications:
Postdoctoral research experience (l to 2 years)
Record of seeking extramural research support evidenced by proposal submission and/or receipt of funding awards
Physical Demands

Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items
Ability to view a computer terminal
