Job Description

Dietary Supplement Formulation Scientist Enova Science Fort Myers, FL 33907 The Formulation Scientist is responsible for researching, developing, and optimizing dietary supplement formulations including tablets, capsules, powders, gummies, and liquids. This role involves selecting appropriate active ingredients, excipients, and delivery systems to ensure product efficacy, stability, compliance with

FDA 21 CFR

Part 111, and alignment with cGMP standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Formulation Development:

Research and develop new dietary supplement formulations based on scientific principles, customer demands, and market trends. Select and source raw materials, excipients, and delivery formats (capsules, tablets, powders, liquids, gummies, softgels, etc.). Conduct feasibility studies and prototype development to assess ingredient compatibility, stability, and manufacturability. Optimize formulations for taste, texture, dissolution, bioavailability, shelf life, and cost .

Testing & Validation:

Conduct pilot-scale batches and oversee scale-up activities to ensure formulations are manufacturable. Collaborate with Quality to perform stability studies, sensory testing, and analytical testing . Support process validation, product specifications, and manufacturing instructions.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure formulations comply with

FDA 21 CFR

Part 111, DSHEA, GRAS status, NSF, Non-GMO, Organic, and other certification standards. Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including Master Formulation Records (MFRs), Product Development Reports (PDRs), and formulation worksheets. Support the creation of Supplement Facts Panels, ingredient lists, and regulatory filings.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with Regulatory, Quality, Procurement, Production, and Sales teams to support new product development (NPD) and product improvement initiatives. Assist marketing and sales teams with technical information to support product positioning and customer inquiries.

Research & Innovation:

Monitor scientific literature, ingredient innovations, market trends, and competitive products. Identify opportunities for new product concepts, improved formulations, or delivery technologies. Evaluate and recommend new ingredients, suppliers, and technologies that enhance product efficacy or differentiation.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biology, Nutrition, or a related field 3+ years of formulation experience in the dietary supplement, nutraceutical, food, or pharmaceutical industries. Knowledge of functional ingredients such as vitamins, minerals, botanicals, amino acids, probiotics, and enzymes. Strong understanding of

FDA 21 CFR

Part 111, DSHEA, GRAS guidelines, and cGMPs . Experience with tableting, encapsulation, granulation, coating, or blending processes is highly desirable. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) ; familiarity with formulation software (e.g., Genesis R D, formulation databases) is a plus. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
