Summary The Department of Chemistry and Physics at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida, invites applications for a full-time, continuing track position of Assistant Professor in the field of Chemistry, with preferred expertise in organic chemistry, beginning in September 2025. The Department offers the BS degree in Chemistry and growing specialization in Biochemistry. This full-time Assistant Professor of Chemistry teaches undergraduate courses; provides academic advising and mentoring to undergraduate students, including supervision of undergraduate research; contributes to departmental, college, university, community, and professional service; and engages in sustained scholarship. This is a 9-month position effective 8/15/2025. The review of applications will begin May 15, 2025, and will continue until the position is filled. Essential Functions The applicant should be able to teach courses and develop a curriculum in organic chemistry and other courses needed by the program, including general chemistry. The ideal candidate would mentor undergraduate students in organic chemistry research projects, engage in undergraduate academic advising, participate in departmental, university, community, and professional service, and engage in sustained scholarship. Qualifications/Requirements A PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field is required. Previous college-level teaching experience is required.
