We are seeking a Formulation Chemist to lead and support the formulation of innovative products and manage a team of technicians and operators. This role is central to driving product development, improving process efficiency, and ensuring high-quality outcomes across production operations. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on formulation expertise, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, test, and optimize chemical formulations that meet performance and regulatory standards Scale lab-based formulas to full-scale manufacturing Provide technical support to production teams during product scale-up Collaborate with R D, sales, and manufacturing teams to commercialize new products Oversee and train a team of 3-6 formulation staff to ensure production targets are met Monitor and manage daily production schedules, and coordinate with Production Supervisors and senior leadership Maintain accurate documentation including batch records, quality specifications, and SOP compliance Ensure quality control for raw materials and finished products Generate daily and monthly reports on production, quality, and costs Research new technologies and monitor industry trends for continuous improvement Enforce workplace safety, sanitation, and environmental compliance (OSHA/EPA) Supervise production activities and employee performance, recommending process or personnel improvements as needed Plan work assignments, schedules, and production sequences to achieve operational goals Train and onboard new staff, demonstrating procedures and ensuring adherence to safety protocols

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Chemistry or related scientific field (preferred, not required) 3+ years of experience in formulation development, scale-up, and process optimization Proven supervisory experience (3+ years) in a production or lab environment Strong understanding of scale-up principles and formulation challenges Excellent communication and leadership skills Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines Strong problem-solving mindset with scientific curiosity and continuous improvement focus Proficiency in documentation and presenting technical information to cross-functional teams Ability to build strong relationships and drive collaboration across departments
