(EZA) , a subsidiary of Eckert & Ziegler AG, is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of isotope technology for medical, scientific, and industrial use. Based in Atlanta, EZA provides nuclear power, government, university and commercial laboratories with reference and calibration standards, sources, and proficiency testing samples to support quality measurements traceable to national standards. The Job Eckert & Ziegler Analytics seeks a Radiochemist I or II who will manufacture radioactive calibration standards, check sources and proficiency testing samples. This position plans, organizes and produces quarterly Performance Testing Samples, evaluates data, performs troubleshooting, and provides support to EZA’s traceability program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Manufactures calibration standards, check sources and PE samples. Manufactures sources to support EZA’s Traceability program. Produces mixed isotope batches e.g., MGS, TCC, GRS, A/F, and others. Performs gas and solution calibrations, reviews, and signs Certificates of Calibration. Maintains laboratory equipment, radionuclide and chemical inventories. Orders chemicals and laboratory supplies. Plans quarterly performance testing program. Evaluates data and performs some troubleshooting. Performs technical inspection of incoming radioactive material. Performs QC related measurements and maintains some nuclear counting instruments. Supports compliance to the Quality Management System in accordance with

ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO

17043 and the EZA Quality Manual. Performs radioactive waste collection and consolidation from labs.

Requirements:

Minimum education (or substitute experience) required: 4-year degree in Chemistry or related discipline, or 5 years related experience in radiochemistry and standards preparation.

Minimum experience required:

3 years combining wet radiochemistry (analytical balance operation, dilutions, pipetting), basics of nuclear counting methodology and nuclear physics experience a plus.

Abilities and skills required:

Ability to read and understand professional documents. Basic laboratory skills and ability to work in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices. Must be detail oriented and possess the ability to exercise caution when working with chemicals and open radioactive material. Knowledge of mathematical concepts such as algebra, geometry, probability, and statistical inference. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Experience with nuclear data software Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to work with power tools and machinery a plus. We are an equal opportunity employer.
