Waltham, MA About the Job We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled immunologist to join the Preclinical immunology team within the mRNA Center for Excellence to support the advancement of mRNA vaccine/therapeutics platform. As an experienced immunologist you will be leading from the bench by planning, developing and executing in vitro immunological assays. You will design in vivo studies and analyze tissue samples to determine the immune response in various disease models upon treatment with mRNA vaccines. Main Responsibilities:

Evaluate the innate and adaptive immune responses elicited by various mRNA vaccine candidate using immunological assay to determine the Immunogenicity and reactogenicity. Develop in vitro assays using human/mouse primary immune cells or co-culture models to understand the mRNA-LNPs uptake and downstream readouts using flow cytometry Develop in vitro models using various human immune cells to test lead mRNA-LNP candidates and assess downstream read-outs such as, cytokine secretion and phenotyping of immune cell in response to treatment Utilize techniques such as Flow cytometry, ELISA, Luminex to generate high-quality data to support the mRNA platform Maintain cell cultures, perform transfection on various human immune and determine protein expression as well as measuring various immune parameters by Flow cytometry to understand the immunological mechanism of mRNA LNP vaccine candidate Design in vivo studies to test mRNA-LNPs and perform analysis on multiple cells obtained from different tissues to assess immune cell response and its mechanism in relevant disease models Manage CRO for In vivo mouse studies Train and mentor other members of the team Conduct decision-quality research, organize, analyze and interpret data, summarize results and prepare technical reports. Prepare scientific presentations and report project progress at internal team meetings and scientific research forums About You Earned Ph.D. in immunology or similar scientific field required, ideally with some experience in a research laboratory or pharma/ biotech company setting (0-3 years) Strong background in immunology with extensive hands-on experience in Flow cytometry, ELISA, human cell culture is essential Experience measuring cytokines using Luminex and ELISA technology is needed Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to key internal and external stakeholders Motivation to learn new techniques with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to research challenges Well organized, with a curious mindset and extreme attention to detail. Strong desire to make an impact Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional, demanding work environment without compromising quality.
