This is a Job Description for a Project Chemist in

Yazoo City, MSSummary:

The Technical Service Lab Project Chemist will support the EHSQ Mission by performing laboratory analysis and leading projects that support the mission of the Technical Service and Quality Group . Specifically, projects will focus on advanced analytical chemistry support services that ensure Reliability, Compliance and Quality of CF products and manufacturing and distribution locations. This role will coordinate and collaborate with Engineers and Laboratory team members across the CF network.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Laboratory Safety Champion. Coordinate with the CF Laboratory Council to develop Laboratory Safety Best Practices. Champion Laboratory Safety across the CF Network. Actively engaged with American Chemical Society Division of Chemical Health and Safety. Credentialed Laboratory Safety Officer or equivalent.

Analytical Chemistry:

Support location engineers with process, product and special sample analysis including identification of unknown materials. Support routine analytical chemistry requests in the Technical Service Lab as a member of the TSL team. Report and communicate results using a variety of tools including LIMS, Word, and PowerPoint. Analytical Chemistry Projects — Methods Development. Support CF Laboratory Council with development of new and/or improved analytical chemistry methods. Participate in review of proposed global methods (ISO format methods of analysis) in support of CF participation with various regional and global standards bodies. Coordinate and collaborate with third-party laboratories including academic and contract analytical chemistry laboratories where appropriate.

Education:

MS/PhD or its equivalent in Chemistry, Physical Science or a related field.

Years of experience:

2 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred.

Other unique job relevant attributes:

Subject matter expertise in advanced analytical chemistry methods including use, troubleshooting and routine maintenance of multiple instruments which might include: GC, HPLC, IC, FTIR, and/or ICP. Experience with sample collection in a Petro-Chemical plant operating environment. Understanding of laboratory safety regulations in the US, with ability to assimilate regulatory requirements in Canada and the UK. Time management and organizational skills; including the ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks and assignments with competing demands. Ability to perform analytical-related activities of large amounts of data and identify trends. Strong skills in MS Excel, Access, and Word to combine and analyze large amounts of data from various sources, and generate reports and graphics. Skill in effectively communicating complex information verbally and in writing. Skill in analyzing and summarizing data gleaned from a variety of sources and preparing benchmark reports.
