Position Description:

A postdoctoral associate is needed to assist an NIH funded research project investigating impacts of brominated flame retardant exposure on placental thyroid hormone regulation. The candidate will be expected to work in a team setting with other research staff and PhD students supporting the Project

pregnancy cohort. The candidate will be expected to conduct independent research and experiments that involve in vitro thyroid enzymatic activity assays, and analyses of gene expression in archived tissues. Other duties will depend on the Scholar’s prior experience but may include sample analyses, data analysis, or supervising and mentoring students.
The postdoc will receive dedicated mentoring and training and have opportunities to develop independent research, present at professional conferences, and for grant funding.
Highly desirable areas of prior experience include:

  • Experience with in vitro experiments, metabolism assays, and real-time PCR methods.
  • Research experience in sample collection and analysis for organic contaminants or biomarkers of exposure using mass spectrometry
  • Experience with epidemiologic study design and implementations, particularly working with study participants
  • Data management experience and statistical expertise, particularly related to environmental mixtures
TERM:

1 year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications include a PhD or equivalent in analytic or environmental chemistry, environmental health, toxicology or epidemiology. The successful candidate should be highly organized and have excellent oral and written communication skills.

PROJECTED START DATE

The position is available immediately with a preferred start date by June 1, 2025.
Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the USA. Visa sponsorship is not available.
