About this position:

Our Industrial Chemist is responsible for developing new automotive chemical products, continuously improving existing products, managing Quality Control, and consulting with customers and field representatives on technical functions. To be successful in this role, we are seeking an initiative-taking individual with an elevated level of attention to detail.

Compensation:

Commensurate with experience. Includes salary plus commission plan. Responsibilities & Duties (included but not limited to): Develop new formulations and products. Continuously improve existing formulations and products. Analyze samples to determine their chemical composition (reverse engineering). Ensure that products meet government and industry standards and regulations. Conduct Quality Control testing on production methods to improve product quality. Perform Out-of-Specification investigations. Operate, calibrate, and maintain lab equipment. Maintain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) library for all products and develop SDS for new products. Document Production Batch sheets in NetSuite software. Maintain records. Confer with raw materials suppliers, government agencies, and private labs. Source current and alternate raw materials. Ensure adherence to environmental management systems. Test theories, techniques, and processes. Develop and monitor safe storage and handling procedures for various chemicals and materials. Know and follow proper shipping procedures for transportation of dangerous goods. Ensure DOT compliance. Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices.

Requirements & Qualifications:

BS Chemistry or related field required. Experience in the Automotive Chemical Industry or related field required. Examples include Industrial & Institutional Cleaning experience, Chemist in a manufacturing setting. Good Manufacturing Practice experience preferred. Detailed understanding of automotive chemical formulations and manufacturing processes Must have the ability to follow process guidelines. Ability to perform duties with strict quality control measures. Problem solving and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail. Strong people skills and fostering collaboration. Must have a positive attitude and splendid work ethic!
