Job Description
Pharmaceutical Solid Dosage Formulator Prinston Laboratories Charlotte, NC 28206 The Pharmaceutical Solid Dosage Formulator plays a crucial role in the development and manufacturing of solid dosage forms such as tablets and capsules (Oral Solid Dose – OSD). The formulator is responsible for formulation development, designing and developing formulations for solid dosage forms ensuring they meet the required specifications for stability, efficacy, and manufacturability.
Process Optimization :
Optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and product quality, including scale-up from laboratory to commercial production. Design and optimize various OSD formulation and filling operations, blending, tableting, coating and bottle filling.
Quality Control :
Conducting tests and analyses to ensure that formulations meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Documentation :
Preparing the technical content and maintaining detailed documentation for formulation processes, including batch records, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory submissions.
Collaboration :
Working closely with cross-functional teams, including R D, quality assurance, and manufacturing, to ensure successful product development and launch. Communicating with material, component and equipment vendors to source equipment and project-specific materials.
Troubleshooting :
Identifying and resolving issues that arise during the formulation and manufacturing processes. Must be capable of working independently from concept and product prototype through transfer to cGMP Manufacturing, oversees the execution of pilot to commercial scale manufacturing process.
Qualifications:
Educational Background :
A bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field required.
Experience :
Relevant experience in pharmaceutical formulation, particularly with solid dosage forms like tablets and capsules, preferably in an FDA environment. Proficiency in formulation techniques, process optimization, and quality control methods. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot formulation and manufacturing issues. Excellent customer service mindset, and a positive can-do attitude. Attention to detail and precision in following protocols and documenting processes is critical to ensure product quality and compliance with regulatory standards. Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and preparing detailed reports and documentation Thorough understanding of an FDA environment and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) desired.
