A DAY IN THE LIFE

Reporting to the Group Leader, this role supports the Wilmington team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including: A Laboratory Technician II is responsible for performing tasks required to meet the expectations of our clients, in addition to efficiently and profitably generating defensible data in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have experience in working under possibly hazardous conditions (e.g. pathogens or chemicals). He/She/They will be well-trained to maintain safety conditions and will be passionate for doing work that makes things move forward.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Preparation of samples for analysis (organic chemistry extractions for environmental samples) Preparation of reagents for lab use and/or shipment Expertise in sample extractions and troubleshooting Well-versed in a variety of extraction methods Instrumental in problem solving Manages time effectively Maintains good verbal and written and communication skills Able to work independently (i.e., self-starter, self-motivated) Maintaining production while heading other critical laboratory roles. Maintaining organized records of sample preparation and analysis in real time Assist Leaders in training/onboarding of Technician I’s Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses Comply with Enthalpy’s Quality Assurance Program, Health & Safety Plan, and other policies Ability to think and act strategically and proactively Resourcefulness, flexibility, and resiliency to operate in a dynamic work environment Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. Proficient in computers and database software BS / BA in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field Two or more years of experience working in a professional lab setting Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement; ability to use concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios for calculating concentrations Extraction knowledge and skills: Strong understanding of organic chemistry (ion exchange) and the ability to perform solid phase extraction, liquid-liquid extraction, etc. Able to multi-task and communicate effectively (both oral and written) Able to work independently and make sound decisions Strong organizational skills and attention to detail The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
