  • YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Formulation Development Staff Scientist executes the design and development of solid/liquid/semisolid & novel drug delivery dosage forms for the BCH categories under minimal supervision.

You will manage projects in Formulation Development to ensure stable formulas and on time delivery. Also, you will manage projects to design and deliver new products to support the execution of product pipeline and specific business needs. Additionally, you will develop formulations and create product dossiers for new products by ensuring that all FD work is performed effectively, according to agreed upon timelines, and at a high level of quality. Finally, you will manage a portfolio of projects and are responsible for prioritizing activities to effectively and efficiently deliver on commitments. This role plays an active role in contributing to innovation by proactively turning ideas/concepts into prototypes, evaluating external new technologies and drug delivery, and presenting new consumer & product ideas to commercial teams. The primary responsibilities of this role, Formulation Development Staff Scientist, are to: + Proficiently execute of Formulation development activities by: + Managing portfolio of Formulation Development Projects; + Managing identification of Formulation Development strategy for assigned projects + Developing and communicating timelines and cost for Formulation Development projects; + Clearly identifying and escalating risks to Technical Sub-Team and Core Project Team; + Providing peer feedback and support to other FD colleagues to execute experimental plans and batch manufacturing; + Coordinating and executing laboratory development activities; + Executing external development activities (as required) by providing technical leadership and accountability for delivering timing commitments; + Presenting sub-team recommendations, conclusions, and challenges to Technical Leads; + Leading development and/or author technical documentation to support launch and regulatory approval of projects (i.e. Development Plans and Reports and Technical Regulatory Documentation); + Recommending formulations consistent with business priorities; + Working with Analytical Development to determine experimental and stability test requirements; + Ensuring Formulation Reports are written and approved; + Contribute to innovation by: + Leading ideations based on category innovation strategy or consumer insights; + Attending product research to understand consumer feedback on the new products; + Making prototypes against new product ideas; + Presenting the new product ideas and prototypes to category teams; + Actively searching for external new drug delivery technologies for the application of new product; + Provide R D project team leadership by: + Contributing to product development strategy and plan; + Incorporating Formulation Development feedback into Stage Gate Documents; + Representing R D on technical sub-teams, cross-function teams and core project teams (as required); + Ensuring that the Technical Sub-Team, core team and senior management have accurate view of technical risks and challenges.

  • Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s Degree; + Must be passionate about innovation, research, hands-on laboratory work and learning new skills; + Experienced in leading new product development projects; + Experienced in designing formulation and prototyping for commercial or consumer needs; + Experienced working in diverse and cross-functional teams; + Proficiency in applying QbD principles for new product development formulation and process development; + Proficiency in formulating with global drug requirements for new and modified release drug products; + Proficiency with DoE by demonstrating successful application for optimizing formulation and process parameters; + Excellent written and spoken communication in English; + Proficiency in working and in understanding of cGMP requirements; + Demonstrating behaviors of play to win, innovate and experiment and go digital.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, or Science with 8 or more years of proven experience in formulation development or manufacturing process development in consumer or pharmaceutical industries; OR + Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Industrial Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering or Science with 6 or more years of proven experience in formulation or manufacturing process development in consumer or pharmaceutical industries; OR + Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Industrial Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, or Science with 3 or more years of experience in consumer or pharmaceutical Industries on formulation and process development; This posting will be available for application until at least 6/24/25. Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $119,300.90 to $178,951.36. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
