Our R D Chemist who will conduct research, focusing on development and modification of new products to meet the market needs with hands-on materials and instruments. This role will strongly support our Environmental Health & Safety, Production, and Sales efforts. Role Responsibilities Development of new products under laboratory and sales projects and their implementation at the customer. Product service and maintenance regarding the optimisation and development of formulations process optimization applications engineering the consideration of environmental and occupational safety aspects efficiency optimization support in the correction and reprocessing of defective batches creation of colour shades Answering of customer requests in coordination with the superior and the sales department. Measurement of colour samples. Training of both staff members and customers. Measurement of standardizing coloring. Maintenance and calibration of measuring instruments. General administrative tasks in the lab. Initiate and review technical data sheets. Initiate and follow up of necessary actions regarding EHS compliance. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures. Requires flexibility and understanding that this position may be required to perform duties outside the duties listed above in order to meet the mission and goals of Mankiewicz Coatings Role Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or other related field at minimum. Receive hazardous waste training within 6 months of initial employment, and annually thereafter in accordance with the applicable provisions of
R.61-79.262.17
(a)(7)(ii), (iii) and (iv)(D) of the South Carolina Hazardous Waste Management Regulations (SCHWMR). Minimum of 2 years experience in paint industry. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Experience with SAP software (preferred). Excellent computer proficiency (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint) Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and standard accepted practices. Physical Demands This job operates in a lab environment. This role routinely uses standard lab equipment, intricate measuring devices, test equipment and related precision devices. The position requires the ability to travel both domestically and internationally, including to countries and customers that may require proof of vaccination. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. Requires frequent walking, standing, heavy lifting and carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to mix paints, use paint sprayers and other equipment to efficiently and effectively perform the job. Exposure to fumes and hazardous chemicals. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on the telephone.
