one-year Job Summary This is a one-year limited term appointment. Continuation of employment is contingent on availability of funds. Dr. Richard Macatee, the Director of the Biobehavioral Research on Addiction and Internalizing Syndromes ( BRAINS ) laboratory at Auburn University, is hiring a full-time Research Aide to work on a National Institute on Drug Abuse supported study focusing on refinement and testing of a novel computerized and smart phone-based intervention for Cannabis Use Disorder. This project uses multiple methodologies including EEG, behavioral assessments, and ambulatory psychophysiology. The Research Aide will assist Dr. Macatee with all aspects of running the research study including planning and managing study protocols and logistics, collecting data, following up with participants, and scheduling participants. Collects, records, and processes data related to research study procedures (obtaining informed consent, scheduling, conducting assessments, follow-up, etc.)
Assists with the development of research plans and protocols, supervises undergraduate research assistants, and assists with logistical considerations including materials and labor needs (e.g., assisting with IRB documentation)
Monitors budget and grant funding and ensures expenditures are within specifications and in line with spending projections; may research, write, submit, and/or administer grants and proposals for submission.
May assist in the preparation of research results for publication or presentation at conferences to include assisting in literature reviews and assisting in the writing of results and discussions.
May instruct students and/or supervise others’ research in area of expertise.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with study personnel.
Ability to handle sensitive clinical data from participants.

This position is ideal for someone wanting to go to graduate school in a health-related field, especially clinical psychology or neuroscience.
Minimum Technology Skills Ability to use computers to conduct essential functions as requested, and to learn new software and programs as needed. Minimum License and Certifications Desired Qualifications Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Psychology, Neuroscience or closely related field
At least 2 semesters of research experience, or equivalent
Experience with Qualtrics and statistical packages (e.g., SPSS, R) preferred
Knowledge of other software/programs used by the lab (Microsoft Office, Box, etc.)
Enthusiasm for the lab’s research topics
Prior experience with EEG, EMA, and/or psychophysiological research are a plus, but not required.
