ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY
The Department of Neurosurgery and Brain Repair at USF Health, in collaboration with affiliated hospitals, provides top-tier care for patients in the Tampa Bay area. Our team includes neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuropsychologists, chiropractors, nurse practitioners, faculty researchers, medical learners, and support staff. The Clinical Research Associate (CRA) will work with Dr. Mokin, other neurosurgeons, and CRAs to achieve the department’s strategic goals and support our growing research initiatives.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Clinical Research Associate (CRA) will coordinate, conduct, and evaluate translational and clinical research projects. Responsibilities include overseeing investigator-initiated trials and federal/internal grants, managing IRB submissions and regulatory tasks, and preparing grants/manuscripts. The CRA will also assist with clinical research coordination, including consenting participants, performing study-related procedures, and maintaining source documents.
MINIMUM:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one year of professional experience; or a Master’s degree in a relevant area.
PREFERRED
2-4 years of clinical research experience. Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and HIPAA regulations. Act as the regulatory point person for investigator-initiated trials (IITs), including IRB submissions, renewals, and modifications. Coordinate multiple clinical trial studies independently, collaborating with various departments, patients, and locations. Recruit subjects, oversee the consent process, and provide initial and ongoing informed consent to participants and families. Gather, transcribe, and enter study data into sponsor databases; manage laboratory supplies and biospecimens. Provide research-related services, interventions, and evaluations under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI). Create source documents to collect study data and ensure quality control. Communicate participant status to the Investigator and research team. Maintain research progress notes and source documents in accordance with the research protocol. Monitor clinical study activity to ensure compliance with protocols and regulations, including HIPAA. Prepare and submit grants/manuscripts. Assist with fiscal projects, including paying invoices related to clinical trials. Perform other duties as assigned.
