Summary:

This position seeks a candidate with a willingness to take on new challenges, and possessing excellent organizational and critical thinking skills. Reporting to the Research Project Manager for Dr. Kimberley Geissler, the Senior Research Coordinator (SRC) will assist with conducting health services research in a large academic medical center related primarily to pediatric and mental health care. The SRC will assist Dr. Geissler’s team as they conduct research, publish results, and apply for grant funding.

Duties may include:

chart/graph creation; data entry; basic data analysis; literature reviews; compiling and submitting Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications including Single IRB application; helping to draft and submit manuscripts and conference submissions; assisting in different facets of the grant application process including formatting and editing of grant, assisting with creation of budgets, and compiling of applications/paperwork in preparation for submission. This position also carries some administrative duties including: meeting coordination and other administrative tasks as needed throughout the course of employment. Of note, this position does not involve significant patient contact; rather, it focuses primarily on quantitative health services research.

Job Responsibilities:

1) Assist with coordination of all phases and operational tasks of assigned research projects, e.g. recruitment/screening/follow-up activities; intervention design and implementation activities; and data collection and management activities. 2) Assist with monitoring grant expenditures, including subcontractors, work, collaborate and negotiate with subcontractors in the coordination of off-site operations, create budget projections. 3) Assist in the development of annual budgets and technical reports in collaboration with the Grants Administrator. 4) Write the quarterly progress reports and annual progress reports for submission to the external funding agency. 5) Responsible for the management of difficult participant cases and adherence to protocol issues. 6) Develop and supervise collaboration with participating research sites. 7) Plan, conduct, and record meetings of steering committees, data analysis, and other appropriate working groups. 8) Assist with training and ongoing support of other research team members, including staff and co-investigators, in data analysis techniques as needed. 9) Participate in qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis, in collaboration with the PI. 10) Coordinate schedules of subcontractors and professional consultants to meet project plans. 11) Assist with orientation and supervision of graduate interns (e.g. public health or medical students). 12) Participate in the writing and production of manuscripts. 13) Provide direct backup for the PI/project Manager and serve as the P.I.’s designate as appropriate. 14) Participate in new funding proposal development. 15) Participate in the conceptual design of new studies. 16) Perform other job duties as assigned.

Required Work Experience:

1) Knowledge and skills necessary for this level are typically attained through 8-10 years of research experience. 2) May hold degree in research.

Preferred Work Experience:

1) At least 5-8 years of experience with NIH funded research

Skills and Competencies:
