SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The Research Study Coordinator coordinates multiple research project. The clinical research activities include but are not limited to, the submission and management of regulatory paperwork, the submission of Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications and annual renewals, preparation, and maintenance of study files and essential study documents.

Responsibilities
Assists faculty and investigators with the development and implementation of research projects.
Assists investigators with the execution and coordination of GSM Investigator-Initiated Clinical Research.
Coordinates study visits and procedures to be completed on campus; collects study data.
Establishes and maintains contact with study participants and families, community agencies, and health care providers.
Identifies possible research candidates from medical center areas; schedules and communicates with the investigator(s) patient eligibility for research.
Assists research leadership with the coordination of database driven quality assurance audits: create, update, track, and maintain study-specific files, tools, and systems.
Performs clinical duties required for compliance with study specific investigator-Initiated protocols; performs study assessments if needed (lab draws, questionnaires, vital signs, etc.) for Investigator-Initiated Studies.
Documents Adverse Events (AEs) and Serious Adverse Events (SAE’s) per investigators assessment and determination of causality.
Manages and oversees regulatory requirements and collaborates with the Office of Research Support to ensure compliance with GSM quality assurance processes.
Collaborates with the Office of Research and faculty to prepare budgets for grant submission.
Edits, writes, and presents reports of research to the Directors of Research.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree or RN. (TRANSCRIPT

REQUIRED

)

EXPERIENCE

One (1) year of related work experience; OR Master’s Degree will be accepted in lieu of experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work efficiently and independently.
Ability to effectively oversee the implementation of numerous concurrent research protocols.
Knowledge of Basic Research Principles and the Federal Code of Regulations for Clinical Research Studies.
Ability to create and maintain extensive records on clinical research subjects.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with diverse populations.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends. May require occasional overnight travel.
