JOB SUMMARY
The Sr. Manager, Research Support leadsthe research program teams to ensure successful systemimplementation and upgrades. Specifically, the Sr. Manager,Research Support oversees the day-to-day operations and resourcesof research staff and supports programs for their growth anddevelopment.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Conducts meetings with research staff and ensures functions arecoordinated in a timely and accurate manner. Provides technical support and resolves operationalproblems. Oversees department budget and identifies areas of opportunityfor cost reduction. Assists in the preparation and publication of manuscripts. Recruits and trains research staff and prepares performancereports and disciplinary recommendations for the leadershipteam. Analyzes reports, data briefs, and auxiliary publications fornew topic modules. Defines and produces indicators for a data visualizationplatform. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of theinternal controls within the unit and compliance with universitypolicies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the functionand on university policy and procedures.

Department SpecificsThe Individual will be responsible forthe day-to-day management of Clinical Research Services (CRS)clinical research staff who are assigned to multiple site diseasegroups (SDGs). Management would include the oversight of over 125clinical research protocols, which have resulted in the accrual ofover 250 patients in the last year. Subsequently, the CRS clinicalresearch manager will manage approximately 700 ongoing clinicalresearch patients.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage multiple CRS clinical research staff assigned to SiteDisease Groups (SDGs). Responsible for clinical research team recruitment, screening,interviewing, hiring, performance evaluations, counseling,etc. Manage the initiation of continuing educational programs forCRS clinical research staff. Perform all necessary clinical research staff training toensure compliance with the protocol, CRS Standard OperatingProcedures (SOPs), sponsor requirements, and federalregulations. Work with the Regulatory Manager and Financial Manager in thedevelopment and maintenance of the CRS SOPs. Review all new studies and manage the creation of the clinicalprotocol design. Ensure all clinical research duties/tasks performed by clinicalresearch staff are implemented as per requirements. Independently respond to any variance and implement correctiveactions. Perform and manage the assignment of workload to clinicalresearch staff. Perform quality review of clinical research staffperformance.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
B.S. degree in Nursing, Healthcare or another related fieldrequired. Masters preferred. More than five years of work-related experience, includingsupervisory experience and three years’ experience in the sitemanagement of clinical trials. Must have obtained one of the following certifications: CCRC,CCRA, CCRP, and/or Oncology Research Nurse Certification. Must have excellent knowledge of the Code of FederalRegulations and Good Clinical Practice. Must have excellent skills in general computerapplications.
Additional Job ResponsibilitiesThe candidate will bemanaging the portfolio of studies for neuro-oncology, sarcoma, andpediatrics. The candidate will manage a staff of clinical researchcoordinators and data managers.
