Position Summary The Department of Medicine is seeking a highly qualified hematologist-oncologist to serve as the Director of the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) & Cellular Therapeutics Program within the Section of Hematology/Oncology. The successful candidate will lead the BMT & Cellular Therapeutics program, ensuring excellence in clinical care, research, education, and program accreditation. This position is ideal for an ABIM-certified (or eligible) hematologist-oncologist with experience in hematologic malignancies, blood and marrow transplantation, and cellular immunotherapy. The candidate should have a demonstrated interest in clinical trial development, translational research, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities Program Leadership:

Oversee all aspects of BMT & Cellular Therapeutics, including clinical operations, research initiatives, education, and accreditation compliance.

Clinical Care:

Provide exceptional patient care in hematologic malignancies, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (autologous/allogeneic), and CAR-T/cellular therapies.

Research & Clinical Trials:

Develop and lead investigator-initiated and collaborative clinical trials supported by the Cancer Center’s Clinical Trials Office. Work closely with laboratory scientists to advance translational research.

Regulatory & Accreditation Compliance:

Ensure adherence to FACT Standards, FDA regulations, and other relevant policies.

Administrative Leadership:

Manage financial, operational, and human resources for program growth and sustainability.

Education & Mentorship:

Train and mentor fellows, residents, and medical/graduate students in hematologic malignancies, transplantation, and cellular therapeutics.

Institutional Collaboration:

Engage with the Cancer Center leadership and the broader university community.

Qualifications Required:

MD, DO, or foreign equivalent.
BE/BC in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology.
Eligible for a Louisiana medical license.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical use of cellular therapy products and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
Experience in developing and conducting clinical trials.

Preferred:

Expertise in clinical development of stem cell transplantation/cellular therapies.
Leadership experience in BMT and/or Cellular Therapy programs.
A strong record of peer-reviewed publications and clinical research contributions. Research & Innovation
