We are currently looking for an PFAS Extractions Analyst in our Liquid Chromatography department at our Jacksonville, FL, laboratory. Schedule:

8:00 am to 5:00 pm; weekends and early evenings might be required

Rate:

$18 to $21p/h, depending on experience

Minimum Qualifications:

BS/BA in an area of scientific study (chemistry, science, etc.) is greatly preferred and/or related field. Previous experience with PFAS analysis or research is preferred

Position Description:

This position supports the Liquid Chromatography department by performing the following tasks Performs PFAS sample preparation according to approved methods and AEL Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs). Review AEL SOPs for analyses assigned and revise annually if changes needed Experience with sample preparation processes is enough to reconstruct the process, detect an error, or demonstrate substantial compliance to specific procedures. Performs maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Complete new demonstration of capabilities to expand capabilities Complete quarterly Method Detection Limit (MDLs) studies and verifies that procedural requirements are met and comply with the Laboratory’s Quality Assurance Program. Pass all Proficiency Tests Understand instrument operation and theory Proficiency with LIMS and data entry Perform peer review of data and associated procedures Assist in scheduling work Monitor and address sample backlog Maintains full inventory of supplies associated with work tasks. Handles laboratory chemicals, samples, equipment and instrumentation according to specific sample requirements, approved methods, SOPs and QA procedures Informs appropriate personnel immediately of any problems associated with instrumentation, equipment, and materials as well as any deviations from schedules, methods, sample anomalies, and SOPs. Begins cross training across disciplines and departments Maintains cleanliness and organization of work area. May be assigned duties to help manage Health and Safety and/or Hazardous Waste program Become proficient in the operation of equipment, analytical instruments, and procedures/techniques Requirements to be considered: Must be excellent working with data entry on computer Must have a neat, clean appearance and a customer-friendly personality Must be a motivated worker willing lend a hand to others Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills Requires attention to details and good documentation skills Must be detail oriented with the ability to speak, read, and write English fluently and have the ability to follow complex instructions Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as needed

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, hear and talk. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
