DEQ has an open opportunity for an APNEP P artnership Associate. • It is full-time (40 hours per week) with State Benefits • This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. The NC Department of Environmental Quality trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management. This position is to assist the Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Partnership (APNEP) in the implementation of the Comprehensive Conservation & Management Plan (CCMP) and mission. Working directly with the Partnership’s Management Conference Advisory Committee, the position facilitates APNEP’s efforts to understand, protect and restore the significant resources of the Albemarle-Pamlico Estuarine System. The position performs professional work to support environmental planning, ecosystem assessments, and environmental studies among program partners. The position provides support to the APNEP management conference and other advisory bodies established and assists the program director and other staff as needed in public relations, partnership development, and administrative functions. Additionally, the position engages in field and boat-based work to enhance APNEP monitoring and research efforts. Employee will trailer and operate a 24 ft vessel. Employee will be required to pass a NASBLA approved boating education course within 90 days of hire and obtain an NC Boating Education Card (if required by law). This position requires the ability to swim.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead or assist with all aspects of APNEP communication and engagement efforts. Provide or assist in facilitation and coordination for APNEP Management Conference committees, action teams, and other groups in support CCMP implementation. Provide support for APNEP administrative and programmatic activities. Lead or assist staff and partners in both terrestrial and boat-based fieldwork.
