This temporary position is located in Raleigh – Wake County.
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay:
$28.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Environmental Quality. This position is located at 4040 District Dr, Raleigh, NC 27607.
The purpose of this position will be to perform work duties required by multiple EPA monitoring and competitive wetland grants. The ESI will be trained in DWR standard operating procedures (SOPs) for work in wetlands, streams, lakes, and estuaries. The ESI will maintain study sites and monitor water levels in wetlands in the Walnut Creek watershed in Raleigh, assist with data analysis related to flood water storage in urban wetlands, and prepare for field verification of mapped NC mountain wetlands. Tasks include, but are not limited to, performing site reconnaissance, sampling soil and water, maintaining sampling supplies, submitting samples and compiling data on wetlands, streams, rivers, estuaries, lakes, and reservoirs. The ESI must follow safety guidelines and sampling requirements. If time and interest allow, the ESI may assist with GIS and drone imagery analysis, and draft and review grant reports, grant applications, and presentations of research results.
