Job Description

About the job The South Carolina Rural Water Association, a nonprofit trade association for South Carolina water and wastewater utilities, is seeking a natural resource management professional. This role is posted as a part-time position, with the possibility of becoming full-time as additional funding is secured. Relocation near SCRWA’s main office in Columbia, South Carolina is not required. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Must possess ability to work effectively independently – self-motivated.
  • Facilitate communication and project coordination between forestry, water, and other natural resource sectors in South Carolina. Examples include completing or assisting in deliverables for EPA Watershed Planning and USDA Forest Service forest management.
  • Maintain and/or develop partnerships with relevant stakeholders and attend relevant water, forestry, and/or other natural resource meetings.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings for project coordination and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with ongoing water, forestry, and other natural resource planning projects.
  • Provide documentation on grant and project progress at regular intervals.
Desired Education:
  • Bachelor of Science, preferably in the fields of Environmental Management / Environmental Science.
  • Master’s in Environmental Science, or related field, is welcome.
Desired Experience:
  • Self-directed project management, leading to the successful completion of required deliverables.
  • 1+ years of operating GIS software.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Possess a working knowledge of forest management practices, point and nonpoint pollution, and relevant best management practices.
  • Formal report writing skills.
  • Public speaking proficiency.
  • Have reliable transportation and be willing to travel extensively including overnight.
