On-Call Environmental Field TechnicianJob Description We are seeking an On-Call Environmental Field Technician to join our collaborative team in Miami, FL. This individual will play a crucial role in environmental field work, focusing on the installation, operations, and maintenance of remedial or gas collection systems. The position involves collecting field data and samples. You will have the opportunity to work with a team of top-notch professionals across various geographic areas and collaborate with our multidisciplinary team, including environmental, site/civil, geotechnical, survey, and landscape architect professionals on landmark land development projects. Responsibilities + Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and maintain environmental remediation equipment, including vacuum blowers, air compressors, transfer pumps, flowmeters, and filters. + Operate precision measuring instruments along with a variety of hand and power tools. + Oversee and document work performed by trade contractors across excavation, construction, remediation, and waste disposal activities. + Assist with plumbing repairs and construction tasks in alignment with project needs. + Handle installation and maintenance of groundwater wells, piping systems, and electrically powered pumps or machinery. + Assemble, inspect, and maintain field systems and equipment, including troubleshooting as required. + Collect water samples from monitoring wells, surface water, industrial wastewater systems, or other sources for pollution assessment. + Collect air samples from remediation or gas management systems, or sub-slab gas samples. + Maintain equipment calibration logs. + Produce timely and detailed field reports. + Perform other duties as requested. Essential Skills + Proficiency in soil sampling and environmental field sampling. + Experience in environmental remediation and installation of groundwater wells. + Ability to collect air samples and environmental sampling skills. + Knowledge in environmental science and field data collection. + Hazwoper Certification with maintenance of annual physical and respirator fit test, and annual Hazwoper 8-hour re-certification. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High School diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field preferred. + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. + 5+ years of prior related experience preferred. + Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems. + Strong attention to detail. + Effective communication skills with on-site client representatives or operators. + Excellent analytical and judgment capabilities. + Ability to work well individually and as part of a team. + Valid driver’s license in good standing. + Ability to travel to various job sites and spend most, if not all, of the workday on-site.
