Summary
The Environmental Technician will support environmental fieldwork and data collection for projects involving environmental assessments, water and soil sampling, site investigations, and ecosystem monitoring. This role offers hands-on experience in fieldwork, laboratory assistance, and environmental compliance monitoring.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with collecting environmental samples (soil, groundwater, suspect asbestos-containing materials, etc.) from field sites per
FDEP/EPA
Criteria
Conduct site inspections and field assessments
Maintain accurate field notes, sample logs, and environmental data records
Operate, calibrate, and maintain field monitoring equipment (e.g., water quality meters, GPS units, sampling tools)
Support mapping and data analysis using GIS software (ArcGIS or similar)
Conduct environmental compliance monitoring and assist with reporting
Assist in preparing technical reports, figures, and documentation of findings
Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and project managers on a variety of environmental projects
Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines during all field and lab activities
Help maintain and organize environmental sampling supplies and personal protective equipment
Support community engagement and outreach programs as needed
Other duties may be assigned
Required Qualifications:
Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)
Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)
High school diploma, technical school and/or some college
2-3 years of relevant field experience within the environmental consulting industry
Familiarity with environmental sampling methods and data collection practices
Knowledge of environmental regulations (EPA, DEP, etc.)
Current asbestos and lead-based paint certifications Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with GIS software
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Well-organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative team player
Physically capable of working outdoors in varying conditions, including walking long distances and lifting equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related field
CPR/First Aid certification
OSHA 40-Hour
HAZWOPER
certification
Scuba diving certification (for aquatic fieldwork)
Drone pilot certification (for aerial mapping)
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity
Frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting required during fieldwork
Ability to lift and carry equipment and samples weighing up to fifty pounds
Must be comfortable working in remote locations, uneven terrain, wetlands, construction sites, or near water bodies
May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety vests, gloves, and respirators
Occasional climbing, crawling, or entering confined spaces may be required
Fieldwork may involve exposure to dust, chemicals, and biological hazards, with appropriate safety precautions in place
Extended periods of computer use and report writing in an office or remote setting when not in the field
Travel to project sites using a company vehicle may be required
