It is a well-invested SBS paperboard manufacturing facility with approximately 600 thousand tons of capacity. This facility boasts over 700 employees and has been in operation for almost 65 years. Located on 3,000 acres, the Augusta site operates two paper machines that produce 1,940 tons per day. The Augusta Mill is Clearwater Paper’s largest paperboard facility and critical to the success of our strategy and future. Augusta, Georgia is a vibrant community along the Georgia/South Carolina border about 150 miles east of Atlanta and 70 miles west of Columbia. What you will do The Environmental Technician will be responsible for supporting and conducting the collection, analysis and recordkeeping of various environmental compliance analyses associated with the Augusta Mill Operation. Sample Collection, Laboratory Testing and Analysis Collect environmental samples as required Operate environmental testing equipment including but not limited to gas chromatograph, microscope, ion selective electrodes, air monitors associated with confined space testing and other environmental laboratory instrumentation Develop and conduct analytical tests on environmental samples at various stages of process and treatment Monitor and inspect testing results for compliance, accuracy and quality Provide comprehensive and concise records of collected data both electronically and handwritten Perform analysis and interpretation of sampling data to identify trends/patterns Conduct routine inspections of equipment and identify maintenance needs Ensure effective application and communication of regulatory information Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor / manager Special Projects As assigned Key Competencies & Attributes Strong mathematical and communication skills required Proficiency in standard computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access) with demonstrated expertise in spreadsheet manipulation and interpretation Sitting or standing for extended periods up to 8-hours Capable of wearing respiratory protection Capable of operating a forklift and obtaining a company forklift certification Capable of repeatedly lifting 50lbs Reading computer screen or other electronic devices Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment What you will need HS Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in science, Engineering or associated discipline strongly preferred Minimum of 3 – 5 years of related environmental experience in the manufacturing industry Must have demonstrated track record of success working in a team environment focused on safety, results and problem solving Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and have exceptional organizational skills, be self-motivated, able to set priorities and maintain confidentiality Self-directed and high initiative with ability to handle variety of tasks in a 24/7 manufacturing environment Must be able to work with a diverse group of people in a professional manner and be able to handle several work tasks concurrently Provide needed support to 24/7, 365-day manufacturing operations Some mental, visual, physical fatigue from computer terminal use Reading Keyboarding Communication Office and manufacturing environment Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment in the manufacturing environment Able to lift up to 20 pounds Total Rewards Details We prioritize an exceptional workplace experience, offering a comprehensive total reward package.
