JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Application review for both septic systems and private drinking water wells Assisting in and covering office administrative and clerical staff duties, when needed. Spot checking properties to assure boundaries, corners and house box is marked. Assisting EHS with field evaluations as needed for the OSWP and FPF programs Collecting, sampling and shipping water samples for the private well water section Assisting EHS in the inspection and maintenance program for mandated inspections Investigation of vector, meth labs and other public health related complaints Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Director Must have ability to work well with the public, have a good understanding of environmental health rules and regulations, have good oral and written communication skills and have basic computer skills. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid North Carolina Driver’s License OR the ability to obtain a North Carolina Driver’s License within 30 days of employment (if selected for hire).

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma and one year of experience which experience.

Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of basic mathematics. Ability to read, explain, and apply regulations. Ability to understand basic technical data. Ability to communicate, persuasively and effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to carry out written and oral assignments. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and general public. Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and reports.

ADDITIONAL TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

One (1) year of experience that was subjected to outdoor environments in all seasons.

SALARY RANGE

$39,547.58•$61,694.23 (Grade 223 C)
