XRF Assistant•Environmental Field Support (3-Month Contract) M & M Environmental 39-27 29th Street, Long Island City, NY 11101 Job Summary We’re looking for three dependable, detail-oriented individuals to support our environmental services division as XRF Assistants on a 3-month, full-time contract. These are field-based roles ideal for college interns, recent graduates, or early-career professionals seeking hands-on technical experience in environmental science or materials testing. This position involves supporting X-ray fluorescence (XRF) fieldwork , including setup, sample preparation, equipment handling, and data capture. You’ll work directly under the supervision of the XRF Environmental Services Manager and play a key role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of onsite environmental analysis. Duties Assist in preparing and organizing field samples for XRF analysis. Set up and calibrate portable XRF equipment at various field locations. Support onsite data collection and basic equipment troubleshooting. Ensure that all work follows strict safety and procedural protocols in the field. Record and organize data accurately, working both independently and alongside the field team. Maintain field equipment and ensure proper handling of tools and materials. Participate in transporting, setting up, and breaking down equipment as needed. Communicate clearly with team members and escalate any concerns to the Manager promptly. Qualifications College intern or recent graduate preferred in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Geology, Engineering , or a related field. Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow structured procedures in varying environments. Previous fieldwork experience or technical/lab exposure is an advantage. Comfortable working outdoors and on-location (in various weather conditions). Willingness to travel locally within New York State as needed. Familiarity with mobile apps and eagerness to learn digital field tools. Excellent communication and reliability — teamwork is key. Why Join Us Work hands-on in a dynamic environmental field setting. Competitive pay:
$20•24 per hour Valuable experience in environmental field services, sampling, and compliance Potential for future roles or professional references based on performance.
Pay and Schedule Pay:
$20•$24 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule:
Full-time, Monday-Friday 9 am•5 pm AND Tuesday-Saturday 9 am•5 pm ( Please note: Saturday hours may vary from week to week with a minimum of 4 hours)

3 months
