8:00AM-5:00

PM Days of Week:
MONDAY-FRIDAY

To function as an infection prevention and control practitioner and assist the Director by providing technical information on infection prevention and control, healthcare associated infection surveillance and trending; investigating outbreaks and clusters; providing continuing education of staff; reporting and interacting with the public health authorities in compliance with regulations; and providing crisis intervention and monitoring. To perform infection surveillance using electronic infection control database , following NHSN criteria and CMS reporting requirements, Additionally, to perform policy review and development, contribute to patient safety and quality assurance improvement initiatives and to provide consultation related to infection prevention and control.

Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelors degree in nursing, medical technology, microbiology or equivalent with current licensure and 3-5 years of clinical experience.
Knowledgeable in infection prevention and the key areas if practice microbiology, patient care, infectious diseases, statistics, pathology, epidemiology and adult education.
Able to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) and perform surveillance using an electronic database and medical record following NHSN criteria and data analysis.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

CBIC (Certification Board for Infection Control, if not certified, will need to be certified in within two (2) years as defined by eligibility rules.
Membership in Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology as required by The Joint Commission; OR
Appropriate education required for licensure in nursing, medical technology, microbiology; OR
Equivalent Practitioner with significant (7 years or more) dedicated experience in infection prevention and control.

Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:

Employees in this position: Will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a ‘non-frequent driver’

NOTE:

A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
