“Our mission is to protect and empower our community by providing resources, prevention strategies, and recovery services that address substance misuse and behavioral health, promoting long-term wellness.” The Prevention Strategist supports this mission by coordinating the implementation of evidence-based prevention strategies and assisting with evaluation and monitoring activities. By helping to ensure that prevention efforts are delivered with fidelityand align with community needs, this role contributes to reducing risk factors, strengthening protective factors, and promoting long-term wellness throughout Indian River County. Position Summary The Prevention Strategist provides implementation and evaluation support to Thrive’s prevention initiatives, under the direction of the Director of Prevention and the Director of Data and Outcomes. This role is responsible for coordinating prevention strategies that prevent substance misuse and strengthen behavioral health outcomes by developing implementation plans, managing logistics, and supporting evaluation and monitoring efforts. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, systems-minded professional who is passionate about public health and prevention. Competency-Based Responsibilities Implementation and Coordination

  • Assist with the development of implementation plans for prevention strategies, including activity schedules, checklists, and logistical workflows.
  • Coordinate logistics for prevention activities, including scheduling with partners, preparing materials, and communicating updates.
  • Coordinate with internal staff and community partners to support the delivery and monitor the progress of prevention strategy implementation.
  • Maintain organized documentation including calendars, partner contacts, and implementation guides. Program Tools and Resource Development
  • Support the development and implementation of prevention campaigns, curricula, and outreach activities.
  • Draft internal tools (staff checklists, training handouts, implementation guides) to support consistent program delivery.
  • Coordinate the preparation and distribution of materials for prevention strategies, including training handouts and activity guides.
  • Support capacity building by facilitating training on prevention principles and strategies for staff and partners. Program Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Support the implementation of evaluation plans, including tracking participation, fidelity, and key performance indicators.
  • Assist with compiling, cleaning, and organizing program data for reporting and analysis.
  • Maintain fidelity monitoring tools, such as observation logs, checklists, and session documentation.
  • Contribute to summary reports and data snapshots prepared by the Data and Outcomes team.
  • Support documentation of lessons learned, challenges, and implementation trends to support quality improvement. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Teamwork
  • Coordinate with recovery services, youth programs, policy, and evaluation teams to ensure program cohesion.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and planning sessions with the Prevention and Data & Outcomes departments.
  • Assist in onboarding or orienting new team members on program tools, documentation, and procedures.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience supporting prevention programs, youth services, or behavioral health initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination, implementation logistics, or community outreach
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including managing calendars, task lists, or documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document processes and contribute to reports.
  • Familiarity with public health models (e.g., socio-ecological model, Strategic Prevention Framework). Preferred
  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Policy, or related field.
  • Certification or training in prevention science, trauma-informed care, or motivational interviewing.
  • Experience with program monitoring, data tracking, or evaluation tools.
  • Knowledge of local or state-level prevention efforts, behavioral health services, or school-based programming.
  • Proficiency in evaluation and data visualization tools such as Power Query, Power BI, and Canva for organizing, analyzing, and communicating program data.
