Director of Infection Control – Employee Health 3.0 3.0 out of 5 stars Wolfeboro, NH 03894 Job Details Description Under the general supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, is responsible for reducing healthcare-related infections through surveillance and process improvement and monitors all aspects of the hospital quality measures related to infection prevention, and intervenes as appropriate to improve compliance, patient outcomes and the tracking and reporting of diseases In the Employee Health role, the nurse provides high quality, cost-effective employee health services to all Huggins Hospital employees, physicians, volunteers, applicable contracted personnel and is familiar with hospital and OSHA standards.

Clinical Competency/Quality:

Performs basic pre-placement assessments including review of health history, immunization history and pre-employment drug screenings Administers vaccine and health surveillance programs Assists in creating a list of Temporary Alternative Duty (TAD) tasks which may be performed by the employee Follows up with workers following absences from work for illness or injury Administers annual healthcare worker influenza prevention, “flu shot”, campaign Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and/or participating in professional societies Adheres to Infection Prevention standards, consistent in hand hygiene practice before and after each patient interaction. Adheres to infection prevention precautions. Holds team members to IP and hand hygiene standards and room/patient IP precaution measures to prevent infection or the spread of infection Participates in quality review, performance improvement, survey readiness and patient satisfaction initiatives within the department and throughout the organization Patient Advocacy Utilizes appropriate resources for non-English speaking patients, healthcare illiterate patients, hearing and sight impaired patients and caregivers Takes proactive steps to recognize and report suspected abuse/neglect, including, child abuse, elder abuse, sexual abuse, and spousal abuse. Reporting identified cases to supervisor and appropriate authorities Clearly communicates to the patient and family at an appropriate level of comprehension School Nursing Program Responsible for the oversight of the School Nursing Program Acts as a liaison to support the School Nursing Program Lead Clinical Competency Works closely with the Medical Chair of the Infection Prevention Committee to seek opportunities to influence policy making and actively participates in the writing of all departments’ policies and procedures which have a component in infection prevention Monitors all aspects of the Hospital Quality Measures related to infection prevention, and intervenes as appropriate to improve compliance with the measures Reviews, analyzes and applies existing regulations, standards and guidelines of applicable professional organizations and any other regulatory agencies Integrates surveillance findings into the organization’s plan for improvement of practice and patient outcomes Recommends new and/or revised practices/procedures based on currently accepted, evidence-based infection prevention and control strategies Makes regular environmental rounds throughout the facility to observe work practices and the environment to assure compliance with policies and procedures and best practice recommendations. Regular rounds are also made in all off-campus sites, including physician practices, Back Bay Rehabilitation, and Sugar Hill Assisted Living Serves as the liaison with the State of New Hampshire Division of Public Health Services, Bureau of Infectious Disease Control. Reports any suspected disease on the Reportable Disease list to the State DHHS Consults on procedures for the decontamination of equipment. Performs Infection Control Risk Analysis (ICRA) and daily rounding, during construction or renovation of facilities Annual healthcare worker influenza prevention, “flu shot”, campaign.
