Infection Prevention Specialist About the

Job:

The InfectionPrevention Specialist participates in the departmental planningprocess, collecting surveillance data based on organizationalrequirements and conducts analysis of the findings. The InfectionPrevention Specialist prepares reports for committees and serves asan informational resource to multi-disciplinary performanceimprovement activities.

What You’ll Do:
  • Identify HealthcareAssociated Infections (HAIs) based on established definitions andreport all necessary HAIs and community-acquired infections toappropriate local, state, and national organizations.
  • Providetraining for hospital staff and volunteers on infection preventionprocedures, while continuously monitoring infectious diseaseactivity at local, national, and global levels.
  • Ensure adherenceto regulatory and accreditation standards related to InfectionPrevention and address environmental factors that may promotedisease transmission.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on emerginginfectious diseases, conduct outbreak investigations as needed, andengage in public speaking to educate personnel on relevant topics
  • Comply with reporting deadlines set by the National HealthcareSafety Network (NHSN) and maintain effective communication withinternal and external partners through various channels.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree a science-based healthprofession.
  • Experience in Infection Control/Prevention in ahealthcare setting required
  • Certified in Infection Control orcertification eligible. Must attain certification within 3 years ofhire.
  • Current professional licensure in the State of NewHampshire, if applicable.
