Job Description
This position is responsible for both the collection and analysis of specific data elements from medical record documentation for use in Performance Improvement, Peer Review, Risk Management, Infection Control and other improvement efforts in the facility. This information is needed for input and reporting to CMS, CDC, and other outside entities related to patient outcomes & measures and allows the facility to analyze this aggregate data in order to assure quality patient outcomes, efficiency in services provided, and safe patient care. This position will work with PI Teams, Quality Management, Case Management, Risk Management, Infection Control, and other departments to improve problem areas, which might be identified by this data, and work to facilitate any changes needed. Education Bachelors Preferred Additional Education Requirements Current State of Tennessee Registered Nurse (RN) license or Diploma/Associate Degree graduate with Current State of Tennessee license. – Preferred or Bachelor’s in healthcare-related field. Certification/Licensure Registered Nurse Preferred Additional Certification Details Professional certification in one of the Quality related areas (such as CPHQ, CCM, CIC, CPHRM, etc.) would be considered a plus. Additional training in computer applications, statistics, Lean, or Six Sigma also a considered plus. Experience 1-3 Years Required Additional Experience Requirements Minimum of 1-2 years acute care facility experience with acceptable quality and productivity. Previous audit/business experience considered a plus as would chart audit/abstraction experience. Basic knowledge and experience working with CMS Core Measure Indicators required, as is a working knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, medical care standards, and evidence based practices.
