OverviewKemin Food Technologies seeking a Technical ServicesManager to join their Protein team! Our Technical Services teamplays a key role in ensuring we understand and successfully fulfillour customers’ objectives. The ideal candidate will use theirexperience with meat processing to work directly with our customersto optimize their product’s performance.
As a Technical ServicesManager, you will maintain a role of scientific expert that isviewed as a source of reliable information by the industry. Youwill also have the opportunity to work with cross-functional teamsto best meet our customer’s needs and may be called upon to adviseinternally on strategic planning. Conducting bench testing, pilot lab test, and in-plantvalidation Partnering with our Sales team, providing technical salessupport to current and potential customers, keenly demonstratingKemin products’ impact on quality, yield, and cost with ourproprietary clean label ingredients Working with our Research & Development team, creating andmodulating formulations to optimize our product’s impact in meetingour customers’ needs Strategizing with our CLS (Customer Laboratory Services),defining protocols and trials for internal and external studieswith customers and prospects. Operations team, fine tuning processes to improve overallproduct qualityThis position is a remote role and can be locatedanywhere within the continental United States. Travel requirementsmay vary throughout the year, primarily domestic up to 60%.Theideal candidate must be located near an airport.

Responsibilities Partnering with our Sales team, providing technical salessupport to current and potential customers, keenly demonstratingKemin products’ impact on quality, yield, and cost with ourproprietary clean label ingredients Responsible for the customer product evaluation process,including identifying evaluation criteria, designing protocols,initiating tests with customers, coordinating testing parameters,and reporting findings to customers in a confidential, standardformat. Provide technical input in the identification of customeropportunities and in resolving customer/product technicalproblems. Conducting bench testing, pilot lab test, and in-plantvalidation Working with our Research & Development team, creating andmodulating formulations to optimize our product’s impact in meetingour customers’ needs Strategizing with our Operations team, fine tuning processes toimprove overall product quality Work closely with Account Managers and Product Managers inidentifying opportunities, establishing goals and strategies, andimplementing actions to meet business objectives. Support customers, and internal research, by designingprotocols, coordinating trials and writing up final reports.
Partnering with other departments when needed, such as CLS. Assist in providing technical training to customers and salesteam. Maintain industry knowledge by attending tradeshow,conferences, etc. Represent Kemin in a professional and knowledgeable manner thatprovides assurance of Kemin’s capabilities tocustomers.
Qualifications PhD in Meat Science or related field OR Master’s degree with 3+years experience Previous experience and thorough understanding of meatprocessing plants Expertise in product formulation math, experimental design,development, and basic non-meat ingredient functionality. Previous experience in a technical service (or related field)role introducing new products and concepts to targeted customerand/or markets. Demonstrated success in working with a sales team and obtainingproduct sales through effective use of technical services. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Excellent people skills with ability and willingness to provideexceptional customer service to internal and externalcustomers. Strong analytical skills in applied research and commercialtesting of products. Ability to recognize sales opportunities and determineappropriate action in conjunction with Account Managers. Ability to work in cross-functional teams to achieve customerand product objectives, including R D, Regulatory Affairs, andMarketing. Well organized and an effective planner in use of resources,while demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness as market needsdictate. Computer proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excelapplications.
