Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated R D Technician to support the development of new food products, as well as maintaining existing formulations. The ideal candidate will assist food scientists and product developers with sample preparation, testing, documentation, plant trials and 1st productions.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the development and testing of new food products, prototypes, and formulations. Assist on innovation projects through ideation, recipe creation, launch process and other job-related duties as assigned. Prepare lab-scale batches of food products following established formulas and procedures. Create bench top samples of new or specialty recipes to full-fill sample orders Support sales by coordinating all samples for customers, employees, food shows and presentations Conduct physical, chemical, and sensory evaluations of ingredients and final products. Record and maintain detailed laboratory notes, batch sheets, and technical data. Assist in shelf-life studies, and ingredient screening. Clean and maintain lab equipment, ensuring a safe and organized work environment. Adhere to all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. Ability to manage numerous projects and work in a fast-paced environment. Support scale-up trials and 1st production of products in production facilities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, production, and procurement. Qualifications and Education Requirements Associate or bachelor’s degree in food science, Culinary Arts, or related field. Understanding basic food processing, safety, and quality control procedures. Ability to taste and evaluate food products. Proficiency in Microsoft Office platforms

Preferred Skills :

Food manufacturing experience with product scale-up or pilot plant operations (internships included) Familiarity with food regulations (FDA, USDA, FSMA). Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and allergen control. Effective communication/comprehension skills – verbal and written. Strong math & computer skills Ability to function independently and multi-task. Work environment Some work is performed in a cold plant environment with temperatures ranging from 0 degrees F when in the freezer section to 40 degrees F working in production/packaging areas. Work is also performed in areas of high noise levels, wet floors, seasonal schedule changes and dangerous chemicals, depending on position. This position requires standing for long periods of time, bending and lifting of up to 35 lbs., and wearing PPE. Hans Kissle takes pride in its people and product.
