Job Description

Lead Geologist 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars 5 Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407 This Opportunity WSP USA is initiating a search for a Lead Geologist for the Greensboro, North Carolina office to be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team. This person will plan, direct, and oversee environmental consulting services in support of public and private clientele. This position requires an individual with effective program-level management and communication skills as significant client, agency, public, and team interactions are expected. Our ideal candidate will be a significant contributor both with strategy and delivery on a team providing project and client management services for hydrogeological characterization, environmental assessments, and environmental compliance. Your Impact Plan, oversee, and mentor environmental scientists and engineers performing technical assignments (both field and office) on environmental projects/programs. Provide technical review/oversight/mentoring of teams to assure compliance with environmental laws, company standards, contract requirements and related specifications. Manage projects technically and administratively. Oversee development and execution of cross-functional teams performing project scopes, schedules, and budgets. Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations to explain research, findings, recommendations to prevent, control, remedy, or clean-up chemical and environmental concerns related to State and Federal regulations. Plan and direct business development and marketing strategies/activities to capture new clients for WSP USA. Represent WSP USA and interact in a professional manner with clients, regulators, and subcontractors. May travel to project sites primarily in the Southeast. Understand and assure compliance with company, client, and site Health and Safety standards. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geosciences or closely related discipline. 7-10 years of related experience. Ability to pursue and develop clients in the public or private sectors. Proficient in project management and/or business development experience. Knowledge and experience with Federal and State (NC, SC, VA) environmental regulatory programs. Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience. Must pass physical, background check and must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (Motor Vehicle Safety) policy. Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. Works independently with minimal oversight and provides guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC. Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools. Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Ability and willingness to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical work week. Ability and willingness to travel to project sites primarily in North Carolina and surrounding area.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Geology, or closely related discipline. PG or applicable professional certification 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120). Basic First Aid and Adult CPR. #LI-SR1
