The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is looking for an experienced Geoscientist to provide mid-level technical support on environmental characterization and remediation projects throughout New England. The successful individual will support Tetra Tech, Inc. (Tt) project managers by scoping, planning and executingplex environmental investigation and remediation programs under CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA and other regulatory programs for Federal, State, and private client groups.

Your Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of program and project related tasks for both government and private clients. These projects will include multimedia sampling, interpretation of data and designing integrated active and institutional remediation programs. Excellent personalanizational skills are critical to the success of this position. Success in this role is a pathway to project management and higher levels of professional development in the environmental consulting/remediation industry. Essential duties for this position include: Take a leadership role to plan and implement sampling programs with appropriate direct measurement and remote sensing techniques for multi-media environmental evaluation, including surface and subsurface soil, overburden and bedrock groundwater, sediment, surface water, ambient air, indoor air, and soil vapor. Conduct hydraulic conductivity testing on environmental test wells, assimilate data, and conduct basic groundwater modeling to predict groundwater flow paths and velocities. Develop sampling and analysis plans under various regulatory structures;
Coordinate and manage field staff and subcontractors during data gathering and other site operations ensuring data is accurate and suitable for the planned use;
Assimilate field data into creative and cont products for presentation and publication;
Prepare technical environmental reports;
Provide data interpretation and mapping of analytical results, evaluating and establishing patterns and trends exhibited by such data for determination of impacts to human health and the environment. Work to develop business through building and maintaining excellent working relationships with client contacts and other project professionals, and by seeking new project opportunities that are in line with goals.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.

Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Geology, Earth Science, or Geochemistry.
- A minimum of seven years of professional experience in scientific, regulatory, environmental consulting, contracting or related industry. A master’s degree from an accredited university can substitute one year of professional experience.
- A minimum of three years of experience working with investigation or remediation of hazardous materials release sites under CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, or other environmental response programs.
- Experience with drilling and installation of both overburden and bedrock groundwater monitoring wells.
- Experience with multimedia sampling, including groundwater, soil, and sediment, air, and/or soil gas.
- A fundamental understanding of location data, GIS and land survey techniques.
- The ability to read, interpret, and carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products including MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
- Ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks.
- A driver’s license current and valid for a state in the United States.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed, approximately 25%.

Periodic overnight travel within the northeast United States for periods of up to 10 days is required. Occasional travel for longer periods and other US locations is also possible. The employee can expect an approximate 30% / 70% split between field and remote/office time throughout the year, with some periods including more travel than others.

Candidates must be fluent in the English language and possess excellent verbal/writtenmunication skills. Candidates must be able to professionally interact with clients, subcontractors, professionals, and the general public. A mastery of the English language for both interpretation of written and oral instructions from numerous sources and for explanation of findings is expected and required.
