Job Description he purpose of the Geologist- Mining role is to collect, interpret, and generate Geological Information related to Ore Control safely and efficiently. Control all the geological definitions in the field. Constantly audit the operation and material handling, maintaining the integrity of block-outs in the field, as define by the Ore Control geologist. This position will support Ore Control with all the field Geology information, providing new interpreted geological features to Ore Control, geo-metallurgical and Forecast models. Also, will collect and investigate the field relation between geological characteristics and ore. The main, daily duty is blasthole logging, pit mapping, muck characterization and modeling of geological features, together with auditing mine operation activity. Support and replace Ore Control Geologist when needed. This position is 60% field, 40% office. Maintain an interpreted geological model, for short range use. By logging BHs, mapping muck material and walls, and use of geological tools. Capable in managing geological software Vulcan, Leapfrog is a must, other software related with geology and/or Ore Control is recommended. Audit and report field practices related with sampling, drilling, and mining. Able to identify, communicate and participate in solutions of potential operational risks and/or operational substandard processes, daily check of block-out field marks. Understand Ore Movement and dilution, be proactive in relation to operational restrictions and needs. Integrate team with best practices related to Minestar, routing, misrouting reporting, and possible areas for improvement. Constantly audit the sampling methodology and communicate result to Senior Geologist. Identify shortcomings in compliance processes, systems, and procedures, and develop ad hoc solutions to problems within an assigned unit or discipline. Prepare appropriate reports and presentations.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see. Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts. Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday. Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity. Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required. Qualifications Knowledge in logging, mapping interpreting and ore control process, and understanding of implications of geology relation with Ore Control. 1 year experience in ore control preferred.
