Introduction/Job Purpose:

The Water Quantity Permitting Geologist/Hydrologist I provides support to the Groundwater Capacity Use Permitting Program and/or the Surface Water Withdrawal Permitting Program.

Job Duties:

Assisting with the permitting and registration of Surface and/or Groundwater withdrawers across South Carolina
Tracking and reviewing water use across the state
Entry-level experience managing and interpreting data via ArcGIS, Excel and Access, and assisting with database management
Performs field visits to do records checks and well/intake construction observations
Provides entry-level technical assistance to internal and external customers relating to the Surface and/or Groundwater Permitting Program
Attends meetings and conferences to gain experience networking and engaging with stakeholders
Assists other staff within the section as required
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in hydrology, geology or geological engineering. Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
