Lemos Lab in the Division of Renal Medicine, Department of Medicine at the Mass General Brigham, Harvard Medical School. We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in renal biology and experience in the use of human pluripotent stem cells and human kidney organoids, to join our NIH-funded research group. The area of study is pathobiological mechanisms of genetic kidney disease using renal organoids. The highly motivated postdoctoral fellow will engage in multiple projects related to disease and tissue injury mechanisms, including angiomyolipoma formation, renal tissue damage and innate immune mechanisms. Specific responsibilities of the fellow will be to conduct experimental research including 1) Designing and executing experiments with kidney organoids studies, 2) handling mice and experiments of kidney surgery 3) Designing and executing experiments using cell and molecular biology techniques Overall responsibilities will include: 1. Conduct independent research, which requires decision making on methods employed. 2. Perform fundamental scientific tasks and selecting methodologies independently. 3. Set up new assays, analyze complex data sets, and oversee specific phases of research. 4. Assists with the resolution of problems and documents/reports results. 5. Analyze, interpret, and continuously summarize findings as succinct reports. 6. Write and review animal protocols. 7. Collaborate with other scientists and investigators in same or other labs as necessary 8. Providing advice and assistance with experiments and in areas of expertise. 9. Manage lab equipment. 10. Reports results in the form of open literature publications and presentations at scientific meetings. 11. Will be encouraged to write proposals for research funding. 12. Develops scientific network through societies. May participate in special committees as appropriate. 13. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Qualifications & Requirements:
PhD in cell biology or tissue bioengineering, with experience in organoids and animal models is required.
- Expertise in latest molecular biology and immunology techniques; experience with single cell RNA sequencing is a plus.
- Experience in molecular biology techniques, such as Western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation are required. Experience in designing and conducting assays and tests that answer specific scientific questions
- Knowledge and experience in flow cytometry is a plus
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with the study participants
- Good oral and written communication skills; writes protocols and manuscripts for publications
- Analytical skills and the ability to resolve technical or research problems and issues and to interpret the acceptability of data results
