Position Highlights:
Perform a broad range of laboratory testing in hospitalsetting. Fully automated, CAP-accredited laboratory. Every third weekend and holiday rotation. No call involved. Job Summary Staff will be expected to work in the Core Laboratory,including the Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Blood Bank andMicrobiology setup. Responsible for assisting with collection of samples frompatients. Responsible for supplying inventory, quality control, reagentpreparation, etc. Initiate and follow through with corrective action as well asmanage workflow. Communication laboratory data and pertinent technicalinformation to appropriate departments, healthcare providers andindividuals in both verbal and electronic means. Education and/orExperience Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science and completionof NAACLS accredited Medical Laboratory Scientist program; or aBachelor’s degree in a related science and one to two years ofexperience/training acceptable to the ASCP or AMT for the MedicalLaboratory Scientist is required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration Certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist from the ASCP,AMT, or equivalent required within 12 months of hire. Work Schedule Varied Shifts; 72 hours every 2 weeks 8-10 hour shifts Mostly afternoon and evening shifts; May assist with overnightcoverage on weekends once trained.
